WHAT IS RECYLED POLYESTER?

Recycled polyester is designed to be a more sustainable fiber by repurposing plastic materials. Our polarbee™ 100% recycled polyester fleece is made from post-consumer plastic bottles that are cleaned, processed, and converted into fibers. Our polarbee™ fabric offers the same durability and quality as virgin polyester, but helps reduce waste and minimizes the environmental impact.

IS REPREVE® RECYCLED POLYESTER MADE FROM RECYCLED PLASTIC?

Our polarbee™ REPREVE® 100% recycled polyester is made from post-consumer plastic bottles. This helps reduce plastic waste and the need for virgin polyester, which is made from a non-renewable resource, petroleum. The production process for recycled polyester uses less energy and water, and generates fewer greenhouse gas emissions compared to virgin polyester.

• No Topical Flame Retardants

  • Our Polar Bee™ Repreve® micro-fleece pajamas are designed without the use of topical flame retardants, which are typically used on children’s micro-fleece pajamas. Instead, Repreve® embeds a phosphorus-based flame retardant into the fiber at the molecular level to help prevent exposure to surface chemicals.

  • Strength & Longevity: Recycled polyester retains the same durability as virgin polyester, offering the same resistance to stretching, shrinking, and fading.

Why Polyester vs Cotton for fleece? 

At Burt’s Bees Baby, safety is always one of our top priorities. We understand that when it comes to children’s sleepwear, peace of mind is everything. Since fleece (or any fuzzy fabric) is not naturally flame resistant, polyester with flame retardant properties is the only safe fiber that meets US fire safety standards. In offering poly fleece pajamas, we knew it had to be made from recycled materials. We also wanted to raise the bar by avoiding topical flame retardants, a common concern for parents. That’s why we worked closely with our production partners to develop sleepwear that uses a phosphorus-based flame retardant built in at the molecular level. Phosphorus is a safer option for both your little bees and the environment. Our sleepwear is designed with your family’s safety and comfort in mind, while helping protect the planet. It’s a small step toward a brighter, more sustainable future.
